Happy Mother’s Day: Love the Mother in You

Mother’s Day celebrates the mothers, grandmothers, step-mothers, surrogate mothers, want-to-be mothers, adoptive mothers, fathers who act as mothers, and all those who mother others. Mother is more than a role, it is a way of being. Photo

When I think of "Mother Love" or "Mother’s Love," I think of the unconditional love a mother has for her newborn baby. It is truly love without condition — after all, what exactly can the baby DO or NOT DO that evokes criticism? Many mothers maintain this unconditional love, even with the dirty socks and childish pranks or serious behaviors or failures.

Even those who are not the mother of a newborn can feel those unconditional feelings toward the baby. Pure love. When I was recently writing a Quick Tip for my new Web Site "Activate Your Inner Smile," I wanted to find an image that would generally be acceptable as evoking an inner smile in someone. It is the photo of a smiling baby, a baby filled with joy. Every time I look at that photo, a smile spontaneously comes to my face.

The Mother in You

So I want to focus on the essence of mother or mothering, which can be found in males and females, those who have children or are childless, and people of all ages. And, I want you to also consider the mother in you who loves and mothers you.

When you love and nurture yourself, you expand your consciousness in a wonderful way. From the depths of self-love, you have more to share with others. When you are kind and loving to yourself, you can more genuinely be kind and loving to others.

Loving yourself and acting in a way that nurtures yourself can help you to transcend many challenges. One aspect of Empowerment is Self-love.

Happy Selfishness Vs Unhappy Selfishness

I am a great proponent of selfishness, but I have to qualify that. I mean the selfishness that is happy, not unhappy. To put yourself first is considered selfish; however, if you feel joyous with your choice, then you are in a state of happy selfishness. To put yourself first and feel guilty or greedy or resentful, that is selfishness of an unhappy variety.

Happy selfishness means you care for others, consider others, and know where your priorities are. Those priorities change. Life is a dance, requiring only one person to lead at a time. One person leads a parade. If it is always the same person who comes first, it erodes the relationship.

Happy Mother’s Day

When you celebrate Mother’s Day (this weekend in many countries; other times for other countries), consider celebrating the mother in you who loves the child in you. And let the child in you celebrate the mother in you. Happy Mother’s Day.

Empowering Personal Development

"You must be the change you want to see."
Empowering Personal Development
~ Mahatma Gandhi, Political and Spiritual Leader, 1869-1948

Many people these days are very interested in their own personal growth and development. And each person must define that for himself or herself.

I resonate most with those who want personal development to be an empowering process. Not all that’s called "personal development" is empowering, unfortunately, but you must find your own way, methods, and techniques. You must make your own choices.

My suggestion is that when you spot a process or method that doesn’t work for you, you simply leave it for someone else. When you’re in this consciousness, you’ll find no need to criticize something that doesn’t work for you because you know it works for someone else.

I recall many years ago having a epiphany that now seems so simple and obvious. I was at a buffet table in a restaurant, faced with a selection of items I did like and items I didn’t like. Instead of letting my nose wrinkle with distaste at those I didn’t like, I felt a deep appreciation for the kitchen staff who had prepared all this food, some for me and some for others.

Some personal development strategies are long, complex, and involved. Others are short, concise, and quick to grasp and do. You may find yourself leaning toward certain approaches some days and a different type of approach other days. You’ll know by how you feel.

If someone ridicules you with the idea of getting you change, I don’t consider that’s empowering personal development. You may, indeed, eventually benefit and become very empowered by such an approach. So, if ridicule is what you require, by all means proceed on your personal development journey in that way.

I have a preference for kind encouragement, deep listening, and multiple options. I like ideas that are expansive, yet practical. I prefer techniques that become a natural part of my life. With my own preferences in mind, I’ve developed a new web site, Empowering Personal Development.

Today I’m announcing the launching of this new site. It’s far from finished; in fact, it’s only just begun. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll find the environment pleasant, with familiar concepts and ideas. Please visit and bookmark the site, as it will continue to change weekly over the next few months. I expect to add at least three pages per week, and more when possible.

In addition to inviting you to visit the new site, I also invite you to offer feedback or make comments by completing the Contact Form at the web site. I am wishing you empowering personal development.

Business Expert Webinars Site Opens

Categories Success, Webinars
Business Expert Webinars (BEW), an international community of business experts, comprising best-selling authors, award-winning speakers, and business gurus, announced its launch today with more than 100 speakers and 700 live business education webinars that begin airing in the middle of May 2008. Webinars
“We are using webinar technology to deliver business eLearning,” said Lee B. Salz, President and CEO of Business Expert Webinars. Topics include all genres of business –sales, networking, public relations, marketing, real estate, human resources, entrepreneurship, management, personal development, and many others.

Those interested in participating can view the extensive schedule and sign up for webinars at BusinessExpertWebinars.com. Each webinar is taught by a live presenter on the phone, supported by a presentation delivered over the Internet. This is a cutting edge way to increase your business knowledge — easily and affordably.

“People are frustrated with the free webinar offerings where the price of admission is a sales and marketing pitch. Either the entire webinar is an infomercial or the content is delivered at a superficial level in the session and concludes with, ‘if you really want to know how to do this, buy my CD, DVD, book, etc.’ Thus, they aren’t really free," said Salz.

I’m really delighted to be offering webinars, three of which are scheduled in the next few months.

SiteSell: A Proven Way to Build a Web Site

I’ve been building web sites for myself since 1991. I learned to write html code before there were nifty tools and software. I know a considerable amount about web sites, hosting services, writing articles, blogging, html, hardware and software. Quite honestly, more than I want to know about such things. As a Personal Development Consultant and writer, I want to spend my time consulting and writing. Photo

I’ve encouraged a number of my clients, friends, colleagues, and web site visitors to take steps to be successful on the Internet. In fact, I created a web site for my clients who are coaches, consultants and other professionals, to help them to write their wisdom, knowledge and experience for publication on the Internet.

Now I have the most incredible resource I can share with anyone: Site Build It! which is also known as SBI! And yes, that is an exclamation point, which is well-deserved punctuation.

Perhaps you’re not really interested in generating income directly from a web site. That has certainly been the case for me over the years, since my primary income is my consulting and coaching fees, with additional income generated from publications of all sorts. In the process of having multiple web sites over a considerable period of time, I’ve generated substantial income from the Internet.

How I Found Site Build It!

There came a time when I was at the height of overwhelm at trying to keep up with all the Internet-related information — information that is often conflicting, often confusing. Of course, some is also accurate. Sifting through it all was very time consuming. I was ready for it to be more streamlined. I didn’t want to always be the one simplifying everything for everyone else, I wanted it to be simpler. I threw up my arms in overwhelm.

The next day, I found SiteSell, which is the name of the company that created Site Build It! I liked what I saw, asked a few questions, and signed up. I knew it was the best transaction I had ever made on the Internet.

Easier for First-time and Inexperienced Web Designers

To be perfectly honest, Site Build it! is easier for those who have never built a web site or who have only built one small web site than it is for long-time web publishers. I’ve been building my own web sites for over 17 years, so that clearly puts me in the long-time category. I had some un-learning to do, but I must say that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Finding all the tools in one place is the unique power of SBI! that only a long-timer can fully comprehend. In addition, the tools are either equal to or better than the outside services available.

SBI! is the most practical solution for anyone — beginner, intermediate, and advanced. SBI! replaces the technical details, the overwhelm of conflicting recommendations, and acres of material with a wealth of solid, interconnected information, strategies, and tools.

Good Content is Essential

As you know if you’ve visited any of my web sites (including this blog), I emphasize the importance of good, solid content. I make products and services available for sale, but I don’t blast my visitors with them. Even my email lists are extremely low-key about products and services. Why? Because I know that those who find me are looking for me, so they purchase from me when I offer what they want. Clients, customers, readers, and colleagues find me.

Good content attracts visitors. In fact, SBI! has developed a process with a visual image that helps you to understand and apply the principles. SBI! guides you through every step of the process.

Content, Traffic, Presell, Monetize

Here is the visual image that is sprinkled all through the online materials:

Content, Traffic, PREsell, Monetize

If you follow the suggestions and do your homework, you’ll create a web site that generates income. Make no mistake, you will not have a web site up in a few days, and probably not even in a few weeks. SBI! slows you down so that you take the steps that they know work, the steps that will make you successful. Think of it as taking a semester of a college course to research and learn information and skills before you can perform certain actions.

It’s perfectly acceptable to have a web site that does not generate income. There are reasons to have a web site other than making money, for sure. But if you want your web site to make money, SBI! will train you to build it effectively.

Training and Tools

Site Build It! has an impressive set of tools, resources, support, and service that will help you to succeed. Collecting all these resources in one place is extremely cost effective and time efficient. Besides the expected support to register and host your domain, you also have autoresponders, newsletters, blogging, web mail, rss feeds, search engine optimization, ways to make forms and graphics easier to manage, and much more. In addition, SBI! has the most powerful market research tool that exceeds all the others I’ve heard about combined. When you need help from others, an active forum of owners assist you with your questions.

When I first joined, I kept thinking that there must be costs added to the annual fee. I was pleased to be incorrect! One annual fee covers all the training, tools, and hosting.

Suggested Next Steps

I suggest you take the Video Tour. It will give you a great overview of the process. Or watch one of the videos I have placed below, or check these out:

  • Sample SBI Sites show you a variety of designs with a brief testimonial of each design

  • Case Studies are detailed accounts of Individual SBI! owners, in their own words and styles.

  • Long Tail Marketing is the future of small businesses on the Internet. Hear this interview with Chris Anderson.

  • Questions? If you still have a question, here is the best place to get your answer.

Selected Videos

SBI has an interesting collection of videos to help you to decide if you want to become a member. In addition, video is one of the methods used to help you to learn the system.

The first video is a testimonial from an SBI! owner. the second is the SiteSell owner, Ken Evoy.

Next week I will announce my new SBI! web site.

Moving Forward in a Challenging Situation

One of the most frequent questions my clients ask me about their relationships with others is what to say to someone in a challenging situation. I can always suggest a multitude of possibilities to help to lift the fog — after all, I’m outside the relationship, read energy, and have a lot of experience doing what I do. Photo
Instead of responding with a myriad of ideas, I usually respond with a question or statement that leads my client back to the last conversation or to the most probable understanding or opinion the other person holds. [More]
